March 20th, the Spring Equinox, marked the official date of Spring and, while it always takes some time to feel the true strength of the vernal season, we can sense that indeed the earth is awakening from a long, cold winter.
In celebration of this, Luminere is featuring the annually offered Spring Vetiver Treatment. Vetiver, a smokey-earth scented grass with a touch of lemon aroma is psychologically grounding, calming, and stabilizing, a subtle antidote to nervous energy and mild depression. It is a tall, tufted, perennial grass with long narrow leaves. The oil is steam-distilled from the roots and rootlets after it is washed, chopped, dried, and soaked. This healing grass is indigenous to Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India.
For the skin, the antiseptic and antiflammatory properties of vetiver is beneficial in addressing oiliness and breakouts while it is also known to be a good defense against hyperpigmentation and to diminish scarring as it promotes increased cellular turnover.
The 75 minute Spring Vetiver Treatment ($50) combines the purifying aroma-therapeutic facial that includes back, décolleté, scalp, hand and arm massage with the balancing, clarifying, and grounding of the Third Eye and Root Chakra.
